Over the last five years, I’ve watched SEO transform faster than at any other time in its history. The playbook we used in 2019 no longer works. Google’s algorithm evolved, AI rewrote content strategy, and the SERP itself became more competitive and less forgiving.

I’ve spent the last half-decade analyzing over 500 million keywords and billions of search results through Search Atlas. Here’s what I’ve seen, and where we go from here.

1. Authority > Optimization

SEO used to be about checking boxes, meta tags, headers, internal links. That’s still necessary, but it’s no longer sufficient. Google now prioritizes authority over pure optimization. I call it the “Authority Era.”
